November Mission Model Discussion - M2: Crane

Welcome to the November Mission Model Discussion! From now until November 22nd this space will feature ONE part of the FIRST LEGO League CITY SHAPER game challenge per day. The Robot Game is only 1/4th of the overall FIRST LEGO League challenge for teams this year!
This post is meant to be an aid, not a replacement for carefully reading the Game Guide and Updates!

At The Beginning of the Match

The crane is fixed to the mat Northwest side of the field. The crane has the blue hooked block all the way up. The crane arm is rotated all the way clockwise.

Points

20 Points - If the Hooked Blue Unit is clearly lowered any distance from the guide hole
+15 Points - If the Hooked Blue Unit is Independent and Supported by another Blue Unit
+15 Points - If the Level 1 unit (bottom block) is Completely in the Blue Circle.

Required Scoring Conditions

The blue block needs to be lowered for any of the conditions to score. The state of the blue block is scored at the end of the match.

Note from the Oregon Head Referees

Since the hook is part of the mission model, it isn’t your Equipment. So “Independent” in this mission does not apply to the hook. The Blue circle is not used in Mission 12. But, the blue blocks do count as Building Units for other missions.

Real-World Impact

The crane has made our modern skyscrapers possible. In historic times very tall structures had to have support ramps that materials could be transported up. Now with the crane materials can be lifted for the tallest of structures and placed with precision on awaiting platforms.

Reminders

The Crane mission, lowering the blue block code and starting point are provided by FIRST. You do not have to use this method to accomplish the crane, but it is a good idea for every team to give it a try.
