November Mission Model Discussion: M01 - SHARK SHIPMENT

Mission M01: SHARK SHIPMENT

Required for Scoring: Tank and Shark are completely in Target zone (inside the lines)
Conditions: After Launch, nothing is ever allowed to touch the Shark except the Tank
Shark in need of transport
Score: 7pts for Target 1, 10 pts for Target 2  Bonus: 20 pts if Shark is only touching the tank floor, not the wall.

Note from Oregon Head Referee Tom:
The Shark and the Tank are separate Mission Models. R11 does not allow these models to be combined, other than “loose enough” that if a Model is picked up (such as the Tank), nothing else (such as the Shark) should come with it. So be very careful with any strategy that connects the Shark and Tank.

Real World Impact: Transporting marine animals is a delicate task in the game, just like in the real world. Whether it’s to save a wild animal, transfer captive animals between aquariums and breeding programs, or returning rehabilitated animals to wild environments, transporting marine animals is always a challenge. Relocating animals has many management roles. In all cases, the safety of the animal is a primary concern. Adding water to the mix increases the difficulty. Simple bumps are a lot more complex when the species is in a small container filled with water. Salinity, oxygen, and on longer trips ammonia must all be constantly monitored. Traveling is stressful for all animals, so some are given sedatives to relax them in this process.

With this mission so close to the base, we anticipate several teams attempting this task.

Discussion: Does your team have a favorite strategy for ensuring the shark stays safe and healthy while in transit?
