Welcome to the official FIRST LEGO League Oregon Update. All Oregon FIRST LEGO League Coaches are automatically added to this list weekly! In each update, which you can read in an email or on our blog (cross-posted on both G+ and Facebook), you will find out what is happening in Oregon, the important things from Headquarters in NH, and tips to keep your team on track. This blog will be posted nearly weekly and all posts are archived. All official updates this season will be numbered HD# If you've missed an update, please read the archive to catch up!
ALL Teams who are participating in a Qualifying Tournament in December MUST have their Qualifying Tournament Application Fee paid to ORTOP by TUESDAY OCTOBER 31st! As of NOON today (October 27th) we are still missing several payments.
Please check to see if we have received your team's payment by checking the Oregon Team Status Spreadsheet. If our information does not agree with what you think it should be, please contact ORTOP IMMEDIATELY!
2) Last Call for Team Name/Affiliation/Coach Corrections
The typo form for team name corrections CLOSES at MIDNIGHT on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29th. Please submit any last minute corrections by that time. Corrections will NOT be accepted by email, the FORM must be used. This is a manual process and takes a considerable amount of time, please only enter the fields that need to be updated. You MUST use your FIRST team number. Teams that have already entered corrections should see those corrections on the Oregon Team Status Spreadsheet, the spreadsheet will not be updated again before the form closes.
FIRST has posted a new update for the HYDRO DYNAMICS project. In this update, FIRST is asking teams not to have any prototypes which contain fluids in the judging room or pit area. The recommendation is to have your team show your prototype without fluids. You team may bring in a video to show as well, but keep in mind that there will not be any presentation equipment in your judging room and anything your team needs to show a video will have to be brought in and set up by team members as part of their 5-minute presentation. Tablets or laptops at the judge's table/desks may work for this. If you had planned to use a sealed container with fluids in your project as was previously indicated as acceptable, please let Loridee know by email.
Please keep checking the updates. FIRST has indicated that some Robot Game Missions will be clarified in this document in the coming weeks.

4) Project Demonstrations at OMSI
Teams will be taking over the space outside of OMSI Life Lab tomorrow to share their project ideas, even though they are not completely finished yet. This is a great opportunity for teams to get feedback from the general public about their ideas. This also helps all team members to feel comfortable talking about their project and answering unexpected questions. If you would like to see the projects our teams are presenting we will be in OMSI from 11-Noon, and 2-5PM. You will need OMSI admission to access the Life Lab.
Teams will also be demonstrating on November 11. I am working with OMSI to increase the number of teams who can participate on that day. Please watch for an update regarding new timeslots!
