1) Payments are due TODAY!
Welcome to Wednesday, January 9! All Championship team application fees are DUE TODAY! To pay your team's tournament fee please use our online credit card system. Sliding scale discounts are automatically applied to all teams that require them - you must state why the discount is needed. You can check your team's payment status on the Oregon INTO ORBIT team list (scroll to the right!)
If your team is expecting an ORTOP Team Support Award, and has completed the form your payment status has been updated. If you were expecting an award and do not see please contact fll-payments@ortop.org
2) All the INFO to Overwhelm Your Senses
We are rapidly adding information you need to know to the Intel Oregon FIRST LEGO League Championship Tournament website. Please make sure you take the time to read the Pre-Tournament Letter. This lengthy descriptive document answers most questions coaches have about the venue, requirements and timing of all events. This is also where your detailed schedules will be posted next week. I have just gotten the schedules in hand today, but they still need some checks before I can post them. Please make sure you are familiar with the INFORMATION FOR TEAMS section!
If you still need a hotel room, we also have a link for discounted rooms at the Hilton Garden!
3) Parent/Teen Volunteers Needed
It takes A LOT of volunteers to run a state championship. If you have parents coming along who are not the sit around type of adult, or they'd like a quieter hall to work on a knitting or other handmade projects while running a time clock (that'd be Judge Queuing) please encourage them to sign up today! We especially need help on Sunday! Parents of team members cannot serve as judges or referees, but all other roles are open to them. If your neighbor or a teacher at your school wants the behind the scenes of this program, please encourage them to sign up as a judge. We will pair them with experienced judges and give them an experience they won't forget!Sign up using your FIRST account:
Teens can receive community service hours, to serve as Pit Runners, Practice Table attendants, Queuers, and other roles!
4) PAPERWORK!!!!
YES! There is more paperwork! How are we ever going to get to INTO ORBIT if we don't keep upwith all the paperwork? Your team MUST have:
- Your OFFICIAL FIRST ROSTER printed from your DASHBOARD
- This must include your coaches and proof of their consent form/background check
- This must have the team number that you are using at the tournament - this is your required proof of registration!
- Team member names should appear, even if they are handwritten
- Additional chaperones should be handwritten or listed as mentors
- You must have a paper consent form for EACH person who is attending as a team member or chaperone (not spectators) who does not show as having an electronically signed consent form.
- 3 Copies of your Information Sheet for EACH Judging session! Print an extra Robot Design (with your team photo) for your pit table!
- Core Values Poster Board - this does not need to be a big thing and should not take more than a couple hours from concept to finish.
- Current printout of ALL of your programs to give to the Robot Design Judges.
- Please bring emergency medical information for your team members/coaches if they have known medical issues, such as; allergy information and chronic conditions (you will not turn this in, but we will ask you if there is an incident, all 3 adults should know where this information is).
This email is short, but the links are long. Please take your time and go through that information carefully! INFORMATION HAS CHANGED! We are doing things differently in the arena this year! We are working to make an amazing event for all of our teams. Please remember to have you entire team checked in by 8:30AM (when the coaches meeting starts). Please do not open or consume food in the pit gym or the arena gym. Please be respectful of all teams, and prepare for an amazing day! I'm so excited to see all of you!
Best Wishes,
Loridee
