1) Oregon Department of Education Funds Available
The Oregon Department of Education has announced the FIRST Robotics Grant funded by the Oregon Legislature will be administered by the Oregon Robotics Tournament & Outreach Program, a 501c3 non-profit organization. Established in 2011, the grant program will continue to provide funding for participation in FIRST programs to Oregon public schools and non-profit organizations conducting after-school programs in public schools. The Oregon Legislature budgeted $466,650 to support FIRST programs in schools during the 2017-2018 and 2018 - 2019 seasons. Team based awards will provide support for FIRST LEGO League, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST Robotics Competition teams.
To apply for the Oregon Department of Education FIRST LEGO League award, or any other FIRST LEGO League Team Financial Support administered by ORTOP, please complete a team support application for EACH team that needs financial support.

Not a public school, but still need financial support. ORTOP has several sponsors that provide support to teams facing financial hardship. Please apply for support by completing this application for EACH team that needs support.
The LEAD COACH must be the one who completes the team support applications. A LEAD COACH is defined as the primary point of contact for FIRST and ORTOP regarding the team. This person is responsible for ensuring the team has a safe meeting place, setting the meeting schedule, completing all FIRST and ORTOP paperwork on behalf of the team, and working with the 2nd coach to ensure the team is ready for the tournament. This coach must read all the emails. This coach does not need to be the technical coach who knows all about the robot.
If you have already applied, the first applications are going to be reviewed next week. Please look for an email in 2 weeks to the primary contact. We will continue this process until the money runs out or it is mid-September!
- Please DO NOT pay for anything you want to be covered by team support. Most awards do not have a cash component, and FIRST does not offer refunds on team registration.
- DO start your registration process by logging into the FIRST Dashboard and updating your consent and release form for this year, adding any new coaches to the team and having them complete their Youth Protection Plan.

5) Fundraising Success in Medford!
The Jedi Bots shared that they had a very successful bake sale raising $600 for their team. That is most of their expenses for the year! Great job Jedi Bots!
